Gene R. Lemerond, 83, Green Bay, passed away peacefully at home, Friday, October 26, 2012. Gene was born June 29, 1929, in Green Bay and was a lifelong Green Bay resident. He was a graduate of Green Bay West High School, Class of 1949. He married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Van Ess on February 18, 1950. For many years, Gene owned and operated a Standard Gas Station, and later worked for the Brown County Highway Department. He was an avid outdoorsman. Gene was an accomplished trap and skeet shooter who won numerous awards. He was a dog breeder, specializing in English Hunting Cockers. Gene was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be remembered for his quick wit.
Survivors include his children and their spouses, Karen and Dave Henderson, Kim Lemerond, Toni and Kevin Odgers; his grandchildren, Kelly Schrickel, Raymond Nolte-Lemerond, Travis Voigt; his great-grandchildren, Kayla and Michael; a great-great-grandson, Karter; his brothers and a sister-in-law, Dale and Judy Lemerond, Jim Meyer; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and his dog, "Max".
Gene was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn; a son, Brad; two daughters, Theresa and Julie; a grandson, Jeff Schrickel; and his parents, Ruben and Luella Lemerond.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. A Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be Fort Howard Memorial Park. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund had been established in Gene's name. The family extends a sincere word of thanks to the caring staffs of AseraCare Hospice and Golden Living Center.
