Hal later accepted a position with the National Federation of Independent Business where he worked as a Field Rep and later was promoted to Division Manager and was responsible for covering five states. In 1983, the couple moved to Shawano when they had an opportunity to purchase the Hallmark Store and get back closer to the Koenig family. The store is known as Hal's Hallmark of Shawano.
