Dufek, James J.
James J. Dufek, 87, Green Bay resident, formerly of Pilsen, died Thursday, October 24, 2013 at a local nursing home following a brief illness. He was born October 5, 1926, in Montpelier to the late George and Julia (Anderle) Dufek. James married the former Mary Lucille Pasterski on November 12, 1949 at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on June 6, 2007. James worked on the family farm following his marriage to Mary and then began a career as a truck driver, first for Lumber Dealers Supply and then Clairmont Transfer. He was then employed at the Green Bay Planning Mill as well as Packerland Packing, retiring as a meat inspector in 1991. Following retirement James enjoyed working at the Vanevenhoven's hardware store repairing windows and screens. James was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Czech Choraliers and Czechs of Norman. James was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. He shared his time and talents with family and friends especially when something needed fixing. James was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Parish.
He is survived by four children: Michael (Linda) Dufek; Marian (Ron) Mc Call, and Steven (Debra) Dufek, all of Green Bay; Cathy (Jeff) Meritt, Chase; eight grandchildren: Violetta, Cassandra, James, Robert, Christopher, Jason, Mathew and Jennifer; five great grandchildren; three step-grandchildren: Christopher, Meghan and Adam; daughter-in-law, Jodee Dufek, Green Bay; sister-in-law, Geraldine Braun, Green Bay; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Dufek; three grandchildren: Jerry Hettich Jr., Shannon Hettich and Angie Dufek; two brothers, Francis and Joseph Dufek and his sister, MaryAnn Schulist.
Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. from 4:00 - 7:00 pm Sunday. Parish wake service 7:00 pm Sunday. Visitation will continue on Monday at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, 645 S. Irwin Ave. after 9:30 am until time of mass. Funeral mass 10:30 am Monday at the church with Fr. Patrick Gawrylewski, OFM officiating. Entombment at the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. On-line condolences may be sent to the Dufek family at www.prokowall.com.
