James (Jim) E. Hughes
James (Jim) E. Hughes, 79, Green Bay, passed away March 13, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born in Lawrence, Kansas on January 1, 1935 to the late Mrs. Josephine Marie (Phillips) and Mr. Oscar Hughes. Jim married Carolyn S. Greer on October 14, 1983 at Camp Clark in Nevada, Missouri. He was a Military Veteran that served in the Air Force, Army and retired from the Navy. Among his many accomplishments in life he had become a Licensed Practical Nurse, Police Officer, Barber, Karate Instructor, Security Officer, Border Patrol Officer, National Bowling Champion, Drummer and Singer in his band "The Midnight Playboys". Jim was an avid fisherman and a huge KU and Kansas City Chiefs fan. He worked with a former Kansas City Chiefs player, the late Derrick Thomas, for Derrick's Toys for Children Program.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carolyn Hughes; daughters, Ms. Brenda Simon, Mrs. Wanda (Tim) Trusler, Ms. Amy (Bill) Franzen; sons, Mr. Brian (Gabriela) Hughes, Mr. Joseph (Kelly) Franzen, Mr. Robert Franzen; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother, Mr. Gordon Phillips; his favorite feline friend Casey.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Josephine and Oscar; two brothers, Mr. Tommy Phillips and Mr. Robert Hughes; and one sister, Mrs. Nancy Wells.
