Joan Harriet Flynn, age 79, passed away at her home in Appleton with her husband of 60 years, Edward Flynn, by her side. She was born in Combined Locks, WI, on December 31, 1934, to Erna and Herman Fink.
Joan is survived by her children, Daniel (Gail) Flynn; David Flynn and his long time companion, Ellen Clark; grandchildren, Sara James, and Katie, Emilie and Anna Flynn and great grandchildren, Carson and Garrett James. And long time family friends, Tim and Tricia Hurley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Arlen Fink and her sister, Janice Berkler, and two grandsons, Bradley and Jacob Flynn.
Her children will remember with deep fondness her passion for hunting and fishing and camping at Lac Vieux Desert. Joan always demonstrated her love through food and always cooked more food than anyone could possibly consume. Friends and neighbors often benefited from the abundance.
The family is also quite grateful for the attentive care that Dr. Alan Cherkasky provided over the decades, and to Dr. Kenneth Geller, a fine heart surgeon as well as the pastors of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, May 5, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Valley Funeral Home 2211 N. Richmond Street Appleton, with Rev. Timothy Seabaugh and Rev. Martin Koeller officiating. Burial will take place at Union Cemetery in Combined Locks at a later date. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Monday from 10:00 AM until the service. Memorial contributions can be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
