Merline,Joan
Joan Merline 87, Oconto died peacefully at home with her family at her side Monday September 29, 2014. She was born August 16, 1927 in Oconto to the late John and Marie (Bourassa) Vandenack. Joan graduated from St. Peter's Catholic School. On June 15, 1946 Joan married Howard Merline. They were married for 49 years when he passed away on July 14, 1995. Together they owned and operated the Circle Truck Stop and Oconto Self Service until 1992. Joan greatly enjoyed family gatherings and working on a variety of crafts. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, St. Joseph site, Oconto. She was a member of the Auxiliaries of Amvets, DAV, VFW, and American Legion. Joan was also involved in the Oconto County Handicapped Citizens Association. Survivors include 6 sons Lynn (Barb), Jay (Sharie) and Terry all of Oconto; Robin (Ginger), Menasha; Dean (Special Friend Shelly) and Scott (Ann) all of Green Bay; 2 daughters Rhea (Richard) Marien, Antigo; Lori (Jeff) Furrer, Baldwin; 26 grandchildren Sherry (John) Osmon Sr., Stacey (Dan) Dillinger, Monty (Dallas) Jensen, Stephanie (Mike) Rowlands, Karen Peterson, Angelyn Baade, Jayme (Sara) and Kori (Aaron) Merline; Loris (Ingrid), Alaric (Liz), Maia and Elliot (Kaylee) Marien; Monica (Bosey) Harvey, Andrea (Ree) Rodriguez, Tammy Merline (fiancé Greg); David D. Merline; Sarah, Michael and David Merline; Jesse (Maria), Genesis, Tracey and James Merline, Jane (Gabe) Gondeck; Kayla and Ashley Furrer; 22 great-grandchildren; 1 Sister Sally Belzer (Special Friend Ann); many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Joan was preceded in death by her step-mother Genevive Budzinski, 2 grandchildren Jonathon and Laura Merline; 2 brothers Clifford and Roman Vandenack; step-brother Don Brennan. Friends may call at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Oconto from 9-11 am Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial 11 am Thursday October 2, 2014 at the Church with Father John Bergstadt officiating. Burial will follow at Oconto Catholic Cemetery, Oconto. Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Oconto is assisting the family. Please visit www.rhodescharapata.com to express online condolences. May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I have memories of the truck stop as a child, visiting my grandma(Gen)and grandpa(John)in Oconto.
