Delvoye, Leo

Leo J. Delvoye, 78, Duck Creek, passed away at home on Thursday November 15, 2012. He fought a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Leo was born on December 14, 1933 in Duck Creek to the late Joe and Alvina (Luedke) Delvoye. He married Bev Doeren on May 27, 1978. Leo was the owner and operator of Village Lanes Bowling. At age 12 he worked at Hickey's Broadway Bowl and then went on to work for Ray Devroy. In 1970 he bought Devroy's Bowling Lanes. In 1984, he purchased Village Lanes until retirement in 2005. Leo was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame in 1984 and he won the 1st award for Proprietor of the Year in 1978. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, gambling and traveling, especially to Branson.

Leo was a special man who loved his life, cherished his family and laughed with his friends. His friendly nature, great sense of humor and caring personality will be sadly missed by anyone who knew him.

Leo was survived by wife, Beverly; daughter, Tami (Jerry) Polarek; son, Jamie (Lisa) Doeren; five grandchildren; Josh (Michelle) Johnson; Jake Johnson; Amber Doeren and special friend Jeremy Keuken; Zachary Doeren; Mateo Doeren; three step-grandchildren; Adam Polarek; Caitlin Polarek; Alexis LaFleur;

mother in-law; Dorothy LaCombe; sister; Janice (Dennis) Baker; brothers; Norbert Delvoye; Raymond (Sarah)Delvoye; Melvin Delvoye; Robert Delvoye; Roger Delvoye; sisters and brothers in-law; Linda and Clark Carriveau; Don and Glenda LaCombe; Ace and Teresa LaCombe and many nieces, nephews and many many friends; his life-long friend and business partner, Gene Holewinski; special friends and neighbors Tom and Roseann Roskom.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; father in-law, Marclyn (Ace) LaCombe; sister, Dorothy Osmond; Isabelle Delvoye; Judy Delvoye; brother, Gerald Delvoye; Donald Delvoye; sister in-laws; Bette Delvoye and Marie Delvoye.

Family and friends may call at the Pfotenhauer Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Howard-Suamico location, 1145 Cardinal Lane on Monday, Nov. 19 from 4 until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 until 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2561 Glendale Ave., Howard. Prayer Service 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. John Bergstadt officiating.
