Bobby and Ellen,
I'm sorry that you have lost your mother. She was a wonderful teacher and I have many great memories of her classes. Oddly enough, the more poignant are related to bag lunches in her room. Mary's and my mother and father both died at 88, but 4 years apart. I had thought, presumptively, that I was prepared for their death and found that to be a ridiculous delusion. When mom died, the only cure that I could imagine for the anxiety that I held was to wade out into the Bay and stand there in the cold water, up to my neck......for several hours. It is strange how much we can imagine that we know and how little that proves so often to be true. Your mother was a wonderful teacher and savant-like. I believe that that is the reason so many of us gathered in her room for lunch. All of the best to both of you and your families.
