Ellis, Mary Helen (Willey)

Mary Helen (Willey) Ellis, 92, Green Bay, died Monday, March 3, 2014. She was born July 24, 1921, in St. Louis, MO to Henry and Theresa (Budenholzer) Willey. On February 22, 1941, Mary Helen married Howard Ellis at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Louis.

In 1955, Howard and Mary moved to Green Bay where they raised their five children. They were charter members of St. Agnes Catholic Parish. Mary served as Secretary, and later as President of the Parish Ladies Society. The Ellis' later moved to Door County for nine years, where Mary worked part time at a gift shop. They then moved to Florida, but returned to Green Bay in 1992.

Mary Helen is survived by her children and their spouses, Michael Ellis, Deacon Robert and Dianne Ellis, Mary Pat Van Schyndel, Carol and Michael Debbout, Suzanne and Tony Cicero; 31 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; one sister, Patricia Hutchison; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Howard Ellis; sisters, Kathryn Rothermich, Rita Ohlman, Dorothy Willey; brothers, James, Henry, and Thomas Willey; and son-in-law, George Van Schyndel.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 Ninth St., from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with Rev. Patrick C.
