Oscar "Ozzie" Ecke, 86, Green Bay, died Sunday, April 21, 2013. He was born September 6, 1926, in Green Bay, to Henry and Cora (Prust) Ecke. On October 15, 1947, Oscar married Gertrude Nitka. They celebrated over 46 years of marriage. She preceded him in death in 1993. He missed his wife dearly and his family is gratified to know that they are together again.
Oscar provided for his family all his life. When WWII broke out, Ozzie was entrusted with keeping the family farm going. His employment included working for Fairmont Foods, owning a contracted bulk milk truck and cutting the fairways at Royal Scot Golf Course. He built three homes; the first to raise his family, the second for his mother and the third to retire in with Gertie.
Oscar liked sports. He played league softball and passionately cheered his children and grandchildren as they participated in their sports activities. He took great pride in his family and their accomplishments and cherished the time he could spend with them.
Ozzie is survived by four children, Donna (Bill) Ecke-Whitcomb, Gary (Joni) Ecke, Robert "Bob" (Mary) Ecke, Keith (Jennifer) Ecke; seven grandchildren, Tony (Michelle) Whitcomb, Christopher (Lucy) Ecke, April (Craig) Likhite, Brenda (Danny) Melanson, Rob (Jessica) Ecke, Joe (Amy) Ecke, Lauren Ecke; 12 great-grandchildren, Jack, Sophia, Sam, Sadie, Cade, William, Bethany, Claire, Bryce, Brianna, Bennett and Ava; a sister, Marcella "Marcie" Vande Sande; many other relatives and friends.
A private visitation and sharing of memories will be held by the family. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd mausoleum. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com

The Ecke family would like to thank the staff of Tender Hearts Assisted Living for all of the care given to Oscar and his family. They extend special thanks also to Tara from Unity Hospice who was always there for them.
