Daanen, Ronald

Mr. Daanen, 72, of The Villages, FL, passed from this life on June 17, 2011, at his home, following a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born in Green Bay, WI, to Sylvester and Evelyn Daanen. He was a member of Fairway Christian Church, The Villages, FL; sang with "The Gospel Notes"; enjoyed golfing with The Village of Bridgeport at Lake Sumter Men's "Hackers" Golf group; held a private pilot's license; enjoyed boating; lifetime member of the Optimist Club; past-officer, Fraternal Order of the Elks Club; past-President, Northeast Business Association (Green Bay, WI).

Mr. Daanen is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joyce "Joy" Daanen, The Villages, FL; daughters, Amy Daanen, Hendersonville, NV and Beth Drury, Houma, LA; son, James Daanen, Houston, TX; step-daughter, Carey Welo, Edina, MN; step-sons, Craig Pfluger and Christopher Pfluger, both of Green Bay, WI; sisters, Mary-Ellen Troup, Green Bay, WI and Sharon Trindal, Tisch Mills, WI; 15 Grandchildren.

Memorial Ceremony to be held at Fairway Christian Church on June 25, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park RD, Tavares, FL 32778. Online condolences may be made at www.hiers-baxley.com. Arrangements under the care of Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, The Villages, FL.

This was a surprise. I am Ron's Aunt who lives in Fort Meade, FL. His father was my mother's brother. It brought back memories of when I babysat Ron & two sisters back many years ago in Green Bay. Blessings to the family....
