Wilfred "Toby" Mineau, 88, Green Bay resident, died Sunday evening, May 6, 2012 at the Jack and Engrid Meng Residence. He was born Feb. 4, 1924 in Oconto to the late William and Rose (La Count) Mineau. Toby attended Oconto High School, graduating in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater from 1943 until his discharge in 1945. Toby married the former Violet Hayes on June 27, 1953 at St. Willebrord Catholic Church. He was employed at Northwest Engineering for 35 years, retiring in 1986. Toby was a member of VFW Nobel Straubel Post #2037 and in 2010 was able to participate in the Old Glory Honor Flight to Washington D. C. with his daughter Sandy. He was a lifetime member of the Oconto Knights of Columbus Council 1475 and an active member of St. Mary of the Angels Parish. He is survived by his wife, Violet and their five children: Janet (Allen) Drewieske, Green Bay; Sharon (Kirk) Griswold, Appleton; Thomas (Patty) Mineau, Green Bay; Michelle (Chris Howe) Mineau, Rochester Hills, MI and Sandra (Patrick) Van Boxel, Sobieski; 10 grandchildren: Amy (Glenn) Teske, Scott Drewieske, David Drewieske and his fiancee, Sara Vernosh, Kristin Griswold, Lindsey (Anthony) Palmen, Ryan Griswold, Zach and Jenna Mineau, Georgia and Ruby Howe; 8 great grandchildren: Tim, Josh, Taylor and Hunter Teske, Cody, Kiley, Kayla and Trevor Drewieske; his brother, Robert Mineau, Green Bay; a sister-in-law, Margaret (Peggy) Mineau; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Fr. David Mineau, John, and his twin brother, Clifford; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary (Arthur) Gehring and Elizabeth "Betty" (Paul) Le Breck; two sisters-in-law, Monna Mineau and Betty Mineau. Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. from 4 to 8pm Friday; Parish wake service 7:30 p.m. Friday. Visitation will continue on Saturday at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, 645 S. Irwin Ave., after 9:30am until the time of Mass. Funeral Mass 10:30am Saturday at the church with Fr. Patrick Gawrylewski, OFM officiating. Burial in the Allouez Catholic Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of floral expressions, a memorial fund has been established in Toby's name.
