James Garrity Obituary
James A. Garrity, 102, longtime resident of Howard, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012. He was born Aug. 21, 1909, in Kaukauna, to James and Mary Garrity. In 1934, he married Mildred Van Zeeland in Wrightstown. She preceded him in death in 1996. James was part owner and operator of Garrity Implement, Garrity Garage and Garrity Automotive. He was the Vice President of Nicolet Aviation Corporation. James was a member of St. John the Baptist Parish.

Upon his retiring, James loved to spend time with his wife. He would cook for her and do all the things he could. He also enjoyed fishing with his son, Mike, and some friends he would meet up with. Upon his wife's passing, he had his chance to visit Branson Mo., and Nashville's Grand Ole Opry which he truly enjoyed; even having his name called out at one live show (in which they had him stand up) and was wished a Happy Birthday. This was during a live taping and he was truly impressed. He was a great man and will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law, Donald and Evelyn Garrity, Roger and Carlotta Garrity, James G. Garrity (special friend, Eileen Ledeboer), Mike and Angie Garrity; two daughters, Donna Meyer, Darlene Van Camp; many grandchildren; many, many great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred; his son, Derald Garrity; three brothers, George, John and Erving Garrity; four sisters, Alice Hooyman, Rose Laux, Marie Garrity, Ethel Hagens.

Friends may call at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave., Howard, from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. John Bergstadt officiating. Burial will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park.
