Kirschling, Lois M.
Lois M. Kirschling, 80, Green Bay, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at a local hospital. Born in Green Bay on July 13, 1933 she is the daughter of the late Clarence and Marie (Peters) Smith. Lois was a 1950 graduate of De Pere High School. Lois worked as a secretary in Green Bay and San Francisco. She married John (Jack) Kirschling on July 12, 1958 at St. Francis Xavier Church in De Pere. As a couple they traveled to 49 states and 5 continents. Jack preceded her in death on August 18, 2010. Lois loved times spent with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed dining out, reading, and was an avid animal lover and especially enjoyed bird watching. Lois was proud of her Dutch and Irish heritage. She was a 50 year member of the Brown County Civic Music Association. Lois performed service work for the Menominee Indians and migrant farm workers in Door County. She was a member of St. Bernard Parish and volunteered as school librarian.
Survived by three children: Greg (Terry) Kirschling of Green Bay, Barbara (Greg) Quigley of Green Bay, Frank (Joan) Kirschling of Sherwood, WI; four grandchildren: David and Matthew Kirschling, Katelyn and Andrew Quigley; two sisters: Marilyn (Doug) Profitt of New York, Jan (Dave) Kratz of Green Bay; brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws: Bob (Anita) Kirschling of Green Bay, Mary Ahler of St. Paul, MN, Jean (Juris) Gaigals of Kansas, Peter (Mary) Kirschling of Green Bay, Mark Kirschling of Fond du Lac; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Also preceded in death by: one sister and in-laws: Carol (Lee) Cormier, Joe (Stephanie) Kirschling and Fred Lemens.
Friends may call at MALCORE (East) Funeral Home, University Avenue at Baird Street, from 4 - 8 P.M. Sunday, March 16, 2014. Parish wake service 7 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Monday visitation will continue at St. Bernard Parish, 2040 Hillside Lane, from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the funeral. Funeral Monday, March 17, 2014, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Bernard Church with Rev. John Gallagher officiating. Entombment in the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in her memory.
