Meyer, Harold Jacob
The Life Journey of Harold Jacob Meyer began on October 27, 1927, when he was born to Jacob and Louise (Wagner) Meyer in Lublin, WI and was completed on Friday, May 2, 2014, at his home in Howard with the devoted care of his family and Unity Hospice. Death was caused by complications from exposure to asbestos fiber.
He moved with his family to Seymour, WI where he attended high school and graduated with the Class of 1945. Harold served in the U.S. Merchant Marines before returning to live in Seymour where he was employed eventually in the electrical trade. After completing an apprenticeship in electricity and attaining his Master Electrician Certification, he was employed at Beemster Electric in Green Bay for 25 years and then continued his employment as a member of Local #158 IBEW until the time of his retirement in 1989. Harold was honored recently with his 60-year membership certification from his Local Union. He was a long-time member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose.
Harold and Elizabeth "Betty" Casper were married on November 24, 1948, in Howard, WI. They shared 65 plus years together enjoying their life and raising their family. Fishing was his fondest past time, along with family gatherings. For several years, Harold and Betty spent winter months in Florida. He enjoyed the craft of caning and building willow furniture.
Betty survives him. Their family of four daughters and two sons, 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive him. Christine Privett lives in Franklin, TN; she has two daughters, Maureen (John) Kubalak and Sara Privett. Maureen has two daughters, Sophia and Lily and two sons, Gabriel and Jacob. Rebecca (Ric) Van Sistine of Hilbert has six sons and two daughters: Rich (Kimberly) Van Sistine of Neenah who has four daughters, Olivia, Claudia, Naomi and Amelia. Matt and Jon Van Sistine live in Denver, CO, Luke (Sarah) Van Sistine who has one son, Samuel, and Ben Van Sistine lives in Minneapolis; Paul (Angie) Van Sistine lives in Grand Chute, and daughters Lisa Van Sistine of Appleton and Elizabeth Van Sistine of De Pere.
Two sons, Jack Meyer and Robert (Tina) Meyer live in Howard. Grandson, Eric (Heidi) Meyer live in Howard. Daughter, Nancy (David) McKee live in Estes Park, CO, and daughter, Kathy (Randy) Parins live at White Potato Lake. He is also survived by several close and loving nieces and nephews in the Peotter, Routhieaux, Casper and Williquette families and Meyer and Wagner cousins, and his many close friends that he met over his 86 years with us.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Norbert (Betty) Meyer, and sisters, Fern (Mase) Mason and Doris (Claude) Peotter; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Michael and Amy Casper, along with brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dan (Jessie) Casper, Frances (Ambrose) Williquette and Marie (Earl) Routhieaux, one niece, Anne (Mason) Marsh and three nephews, Kenneth and David Williquette and John Routhieaux. Since his high school years, he had a strong friendship with his classmates, Vernon Beyer and Ken Stanelle, who also predeceased him.
A family and friends farewell gathering, with a Masonic Service conducted by his friends of Mason Woods Lodge #368, was held according to his wishes. His daughter, Beckie played the guitar and granddaughter, Elizabeth sang his favorite hymns. His final place of rest will be in the Mill Center Cemetery. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family.
