LaVerne Vanden Plas- Hermans, 95, Green Bay, died May 13, 2013. She was born July 25, 1918, to Albert and Mary (Boehm) Rentmeester. LaVerne married William Vanden Plas May 5, 1937, and Bill preceded her in death October 27, 1973. She later married Gouldie Hermans November 23, 1976, and he preceded her in death September 25, 1994.

LaVerne and Bill worked their farm on Finger Road until his passing. She then worked at Bay Convalescent Home on Main Street for 22 years. She enjoyed her time and made many friends there. LaVerne enjoyed dancing, playing cards, taking bus trips and in later years, trips to the casino.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, James and Carol Vanden Plas; a daughter, Dolores Van Lanen; six grandchildren, Kelly (Jackie) Vanden Plas, Kim (Ferd) Bahrke, Kurt (Kris) Vanden Plas, Mary Jo (Robert) Brokaw, Shelly (Randy) Reichardt, Patrick (Lisa) Van Lanen; twelve great-grandchildren, Ben and Celia Brokaw, Morgan and Makenzi Reichardt, Jared, Justin and Daniel "D.J." Van Lanen, Nadeen Rancier, Dustin (Emily), Douglas, and Danica Vanden Plas, Kristin (Casey) Lipsky; one great-great-granddaughter, Acacia Rancier; one step-grandson, Bradley Baumgart; a step-granddaughter, Rochelle Mc Inerney; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Joseph and Marge Boehm and Florence Rentmeester; many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Asha Vanden Plas; her parents Albert and Mary Rentmeeser; her step-mother, Vera Rentmeester; a daughter-in-law, Carole Vanden Plas; a son-in-law, Patrick Van Lanen; her sisters, Sr. Mary Albert (Emma) Rentmeester, Doris (Ralph) Vanden Bush, Lucille (Clem) Vanden Bush: brothers, Anthony (Margaret), Wilbert (Elaine), Rueben (Armella), Lawrence (Helen) and Harold Rentmeester; a step-sister and her husband, Catherine (Bill) De Grave; a step-son, Glenn Hermans; and a step-grandson, Barry Splan.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 3425 Willow Road, Green Bay. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with Rev.
