Crystal E. Breitenfeldt, Green Bay, passed away Monday, May 12, 2014, at Harmony Living Center, with her children by her side. She was born August 18, 1922, to Albert and Mayme (Riley) Sutheimer in rural Tigerton, "at The Comet".
She married Lyle Breitenfeldt on February 19, 1944, in Tigerton. He preceded her in death on July 2, 1999.
Crystal was a dedicated worker all of her life. From farming in Pulaski, to managing grocery stores in Crandon and Coleman, to working in schools in Coleman and Pulaski as a teacher's aide working with children, and finally volunteering at Green Bay Jackson Elementary School helping second and third graders with spelling and vocabulary. She had lived at Mason Manor where she volunteered with the food program, delivering meals to residents and helping in the kitchen. Crystal was always very proud of the work she was doing. "May you always have work for your hands to do."
Crystal is survived by her three children, Michael, Judy, and Joy (Del) Spinelli; two grandchildren, Michelle (Jeff) Spangenberg, Matthew Breitenfeldt and his special friend, Amy; two great-grandchildren, Anthony and Nathan Spangenberg; and her sister, Donna Leipzig.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; her parents; brothers, Norman, Riley, and Leland Sutheimer and their spouses; and brother-in-law, Jim Leipzig.
Friends may call at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 Ninth St., from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 21. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, at the church with Rev. Patrick C.
