Bettine, Dorothy J. (Goethe)

Dorothy J. (Goethe) Bettine, 94, Green Bay, died Monday, May 26, 2014. She was born April 29, 1920, to Herbert R. and Narcisse J. (Dost) Goethe. She attended Old Woelz Grade School and East High School. On July 28, 1941, Dorothy married Harry G. Bettine and he preceded her in death on October 22, 1989.

She was a member of First United Church of Christ, the Woman's Guild, and Former Singles Club. In January of 1975, Dorothy was honored for over 50 years of teaching in the nursery class and the room was named in her honor. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader at Nicolet School for many years and a recruiter for the Girl Scout office. Dorothy was an inactive member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Nazarene Shrine. She was also a member of The Women's Auxiliary of the Green Bay Yacht Club.

Dorothy is survived by her three daughters, Janice J. Ziebell, Green Bay; Marlene K. Holubar, St. Joseph, MI; Louann N. (Rodney) Czerwonka, Batavia, IL; her beloved dog, Cricket; six grandchildren, Pamela J. (Randy) Barton, Brian J. (Mona) Holubar, Bradley G. (Lisa) Holubar, Bart E. (Angi) Holubar, Evan P. Czerwonka, Kaitlyn A. Czerwonka; two step-grandsons, Peter L. (Annette) Ziebell and John M. Ziebell; twelve great-grandchildren; niece and nephew, Sandra (Hansen) Goetsch and Leon (Teri) Hansen and their children; also many more dear nieces, nephews and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister, Arleen (Goethe) Hansen; sons-in-law, John L. Ziebell and Glenn E. Holubar; and one step-grandson, James F. Ziebell.

Friends may call at First United Church of Christ, 509 S. Webster Ave., from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with Rev. Robert Laubenstein officiating. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family. To send online condolences, please go to
