Katie Jo DeNiel, 30, Green Bay, passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 2, 2014. She was born May 3, 1984, in Green Bay to Michael and Kathleen DeNiel. Katie graduated from Green Bay Southwest High School in 2002. She received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay in 2006, with a major in History and a minor in Humanistic Studies.

Katie was the happiest when spending time with her son, Kaiden. Together they enjoyed excursions to Barkhausen, the NEW Zoo, and being anywhere outdoors. Katie worked in the insurance industry for a number of years, and was employed by Arise Health Plan.

Katie is survived by the love of her life, her five year-old son, Kaiden Gabriel DeNiel; her parents, Michael and Kathleen DeNiel, Green Bay; sister, Dr. Carrie DeNiel, Minneapolis, MN; maternal grandparents, Dorothy and William Compton, Green Bay; paternal grandmother, Alice Hansen, Green Bay; her aunts and uncles, Tom and Donna Compton, Randy and Shirley Compton, Larry and Judy Compton, Peggy Hodgson, Sue and Grant Wery, Janice Roberts, Barb and John Salscheider, LuAnn and Todd Schmechel, Beverly Salscheider, Rocky and Diane Compton, Dennis and Michelle Compton, Diana and Jeff Joorabchi, Shelly and Dr. Robert Gruesen, Ricky DeNiel, Lannea and Greg Haney, Dr. Missy DeNiel; and a large group of fun-loving cousins.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Gene DeNiel; and uncles, Bill "Tuffy" Compton and Sid Hodgson.

Friends may call at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave. (one quarter mile east of the corner of Cardinal Ln. and Glendale Ave.) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 10. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the church with Rev. John Bergstadt officiating. A celebration of life will be held at Rock Garden, 1951 Bond St., from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family. To send online condolences, please go to
