Shefchik, Marilyn Dorothy

Marilyn Dorothy Shefchik, 76, Green Bay, passed away with her family by her side on Friday, June 13, 2014. She was born on March 8, 1938 in Denmark to Bernard and Stella (Buresh) Wavrunek. Marilyn graduated from Denmark High School in 1955. On May 21, 1957 she married Ronald Shefchik at All Saints Catholic Church in Denmark. Marilyn volunteered with Unity Hospice for many years. She was a former president of the Green Bay Jaycettes and the Czech Choraliers. Marilyn sang in the St. Agnes Choir, funeral choir, Festival Singers, and was a member of the Community of Christian Women and the YWCA Encore Group. She was a devoted Packers fan and enjoyed fishing.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Ron; three children, Susan (Michael) Mayer, Mark (Janet) Shefchik, Lisa (Mark) Johnson; four grandchildren, Jacob Mayer, Sarah Mayer, Julie Shefchik, Karen Shefchik; great grandson, David Holland; a brother, Richard Wavrunek; sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Elaine (Ben) Estel and Mary Jo Shefchik; many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Amy Shefchik; a sister, Phyllis Aude; a brother-in-law, Norbert Shefchik.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday. A Parish Wake Service will be at 7 p.m. Monday. Friends may also call at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 Ninth St., from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at church with Rev. Patrick C. Beno officiating. Marilyn's family would like to thank her special friend, Judy Westerfeld, her hospice nurse, Kathy, and the staffs of Unity Hospice and Santa Maria Nursing Home.
