Shirley Wautier Obituary
Wautier, Shirley

Shirley A. Wautier, 81, of Brussels, passed away June 17, 2014, with her children by her side. She was born on March 8, 1933, to Joseph and Eleanor (Robillard) Franda. On July 7, 1951, she married Donald E. Wautier and together they farmed in Brussels; he preceded her in death on April 25, 1989.

Shirley was an avid quilter and always had a baby blanket on hand when needed. She was a caregiver, always compassionate and available for her children, grandchildren, and family whenever a babysitter was needed. The coffee was always on at Shirley's house, ready to be served with muffins, homemade bread and jam. No one ever left her house hungry. Shirley had also been an active member of the Christian Mothers for many years.

Survivors include four daughters, Nancy Townsend, Sturgeon Bay; Barb (Russ) Vlies, Casco; Ann (Jon) Schley, Brussels; Stacy (Russ) Cihlar, Sturgeon Bay; daughter-in-law, Peggy Wautier, Brussels; two sons, David Wautier (friend, Joanne Janssen), Luxemburg; Kelly Wautier (fiancé, Sharon Bilodeau) DePere; twenty-six grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; one brother, Kermit (Cleo) Franda; one sister, Joan (Dale) Bouchonville; sister-in-law, Jeanette Franda; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Herbert Lenius, husband, two sons, Mark and Allan; one daughter, Karen; two granddaughters, Karen and Kaitlyn Schley; and one brother, Ervin Franda.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, at St. Francis and St. Mary Parish in Brussels with Rev. Steve VandenBoogard and Deacon Paul Zenefski officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A prayer service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. On-line condolences may be offered at www.forbesfuneralhome.com

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the family and friends who visited Shirley. She enjoyed the company and the "fried chicken" that we all brought her. Also, to the staff of Whispering Heights and her friend, Mae Birnschein; and to Unity Hospice for helping the family during this time.
