Schlueter, Kenneth C.

Pastor Kenneth C. Schlueter passed away to the church triumphant on July 2, 2014. He was taken from us unexpectedly, which has left us in great pain.

He was born February 8, 1938 to Henry and Clara (Vissering) Schlueter of Flanagan, Illinois. He was a graduate of Flanagan High School and received degrees from Wartburg College and Wartburg Seminary. He later went on to receive his Masters Degree from Princeton Theological School, Princeton, New Jersey.

Ken married Sharleen Roefer of Jeffers, Minnesota on June 4, 1961. He leaves to mourn his wife of 53 years, Sharleen as well as his three children, Michael (Karen) Schlueter, Julie (Gary) Schlueter Engen, and Amy (Alan) Swatloski along with his 7 grandchildren, Andrea, Erik, and Katelyn (Schlueter), Colin and Shannon (Owens), and Alexandra and Sydney (Swatloski). Kenneth is also survived by his brother Marvelyn (Wanda) Schlueter and his sister Lorraine Harms who both reside in Illinois.

He leaves a great legacy through his service as a Lutheran Pastor. The churches he has served as a fulltime and interim Pastor are numerous. Many of those years were spent as the Chaplain at Northland Lutheran Retirement Community (Marinette, WI). Pastor Schlueter celebrated the 50th anniversary of his ordination into Ministry on June 7, 2014. He was a good and faithful servant to the end. The depth of how much we will miss him is hard to put into words but the wonderful memories will be there to help.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in his honor to the Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity or Local Food Shelf.

Services are scheduled for Tuesday, July 8th, 2014 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1301 S. Ridge Rd. in Green Bay. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m. Please contact Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home for any additional information.
