Richard T. "Dick" Stencil, 86, Green Bay, passed away peacefully, Thursday, July 31, 2014, at the Unity Hospice Jack and Engrid Meng Residence.
He was born May 19, 1928, in Green Bay to Andrew and Regina (Ripp) Stencil. Dick retired from James River after working 39 years as a papermaker. On May 28, 1948, he married Phyllis Courchaine at Annunciation Catholic Church. Dick later married Dorothy Hardy on June 23, 1978. She preceded him in death in 1987. Following his retirement, Dick spent his time between Crivitz, Wisconsin and Casa Grande, Arizona. He was a life time member of the Loyal Order of Moose. Dick loved being in the north woods, where he enjoyed gardening and the wildlife.
Survivors include his children and their spouses, Steven Stencil, Arizona; Julie and Paul Defnet, Green Bay; Andy and Jane Stencil, Green Bay; daughter-in-law, Barb Stencil, De Pere; his grandchildren, Kelly Stencil and her special friend, Ron Blunt, Green Bay; Timothy Stencil, North Dakota; Dr. Ann Defnet, Chicago, Illinois; Mary Defnet and her fiancé, Andy Spaeth, Green Bay; Tara Stencil, Green Bay; one great-grandson, Gabriel Blunt; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Laverne and Milton Mancosky, De Pere, Mary Jane Walton, Green Bay; a sister-in-law, Joyce Stencil, Howard, many nieces, nephews, step-children and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, his son, David, his parents, five brothers, Raymond, James, Howard, Leroy, and Carlton Stencil; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Delores and George Mancosky, Carol Belland.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. There will be a Parish Wake Service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Friends may also call at St. Willebrord Catholic Church, 209 S. Adams St. from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church with Rev. Andrew G. Cribben, O.Praem. officiating. Burial will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
