Ronald Joseph Vlies, 57,Brussels, passed away, due to medical complications, on Sept. 25, 2011, at St. Vincent's Hospital. He was born on Dec. 5, 1953, in Green Bay, to Joseph and Marie (Parins) Vlies Jr. Ronald served his country in the National Guard in the 1970's. Ron married Marcia Cochart on July 19, 1975, in Brussels. He owned and operated a trucking and excavating business in Brussels for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Marcia; two sons, Jeff "Pepe" and Tina Vlies, Kewaunee; Todd and Missy Vlies, Luxemburg; one daughter, Amy Vlies and Dean LaLuzerne, Sturgeon Bay; four grandchildren, Coy and Sara Vlies, and Sofie and Macey Vlies; his mother, Marie Vlies, Casco; three brothers, Kenny "Cowboy" and Jeannie Vlies, Green Bay; Jim and Gaye Vlies, Green Bay; Joseph Vlies III, Brussels; three sisters, Patricia and Larry Groy, Beecher, Wis.; Cindy Vlies, Green Bay; Becky and Joe Hietpas, De Pere; his mother-in-law, Clarice Cochart, Brussels; brothers and sisters-in-law, Terry and Mary Cochart, Rod and Nancy Cochart, Reggie and Jane Cochart, Sue and Wayne Delwiche, Mike Cochart, Lisa Stade and Donny; and many nieces and nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father; his daughter, Elizabeth; his father-in-law, Harris Cochart; and one nephew and one niece, Cody and Ciley Cochart.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at St. Francis and St. Mary's Parish in Brussels, with the Rev. Pius Cotter officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 28, at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay, with a prayer service at 7:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 9 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. on Thursday morning at the funeral home.
