Doris Sophie Marie (Schroeder) Herms, 75, Cecil, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 19, 2012.

Doris was born Sept. 8, 1936, to the late Henry and Olga (Marcheske) Schroeder in the town of Underhill. She was a graduate of Gillett High School and an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Cnty H. On June 16, 1956, she married Donald L. Herms. After she married, they farmed and began their family in the town of Green Valley. Doris and Don became members of St. John's Lutheran Church on Nauman Rd. In 1995, Don and Doris sold their farm and moved to Gerbig Rd., in Marion, where they joined Immanuel Lutheran Church, Cnty Rd M in Caroline. In 2000, Don and Doris moved to Cecil, where they currently live. Doris enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and having lunch with her friends. Together, her and Don enjoyed raising their family, dancing, going to the casino and she especially loved her grandchildren.
Doris is survived by her husband, Donald; three daughters, Marsha (Steve) Naumann, Brenda Treankler, Lisa (Dennis) Pederson and one son, Kevin (Lori) Herms. Doris had 11 grandchildren, Andrea (Jesse) Reyment, Brent, Justin and Travis Naumann, Jeremy (Melissa) Pederson, Jacki Pederson, Ashten Treankler, Erin Treankler (special friends, Emily and Branden), Brock Treankler (special friend, Kylee), Keaton and Kinzie Herms. She also had two great-granddaughters, Natalie Pederson and Megan Reyment. She is further survived by, Eleanora Schroeder, Ruth Schroeder, Ruth Loericke, Ray (Doris Ann) Schroeder, Leonard Schroeder (special friend, Mary Ann).
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Wilfred, Karl and Richard; a baby sister; Melvin and Emma Herms; Lloyd Mayer.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Zastrow Funeral Home in Cecil.
A private family funeral service will be held on Thursday.
The family would like to thank everyone for their efforts to save Doris. She will be sadly missed.
