Don was lucky in love for the second time meeting Connie Smith. They married on July 30, 1994. They had 17 happy and loving years together in Arizona and Green Bay. Don loved to dance and play cards with Connie, always trying to beat her. Don enjoyed all sports and played softball, bowling, volleyball, golf and dart ball. He was proud to display his over 70 trophies in his home.

He was a longtime member of Bethel Lutheran Church for 65 years and served on the Church Council. He played dart ball on the Bethel Men's team and for Cal Cartier's Plumbing. He was also involved with the Men's Bible study group, American Legion Post #518 and the Green Bay Community Service Club. Don volunteered and delivered meals on wheels and he volunteered at Woodside Lutheran Home for many years.
