Hoefs, Arden Clarence

Arden Clarence Hoefs, 96, passed into God's hands on the 10th of June, 2012. He was born in Oakdale, on Feb. 7, 1916, to John Frederick and Mamie (Brandt) Hoefs and lived on the family farm his entire life. Mr. Hoefs took over the family farm when he married his wife, June (Reed) on April 25, 1937. They farmed together outside of Oakdale, until their retirement in 1978. They built a new home in 1977 on a three-acre portion of the farmstead and they remained there until their deaths. Arden enjoyed farming, farmers' market, electrical work, fishing, hunting and visiting with his friends and family. He was a member of St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church in Indian Creek, a former Church Council member and Tomah School District board member.
Mr. Hoefs is survived by two sons, Vaughn (Diane), Camp Douglas; Gary, Kaukauna; and one daughter, Linda Moreland, St. Louis, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Vaughn Jr. (Angie), Sparta; and Denise, Camp Douglas; Jonathan (Melissa), Menomonie; Sheleen Adams, Menomonie; Cassie and Kyle, Kaukauna; and Michelle (Eric) Vaughan and Ian Moreland, St. Louis, Mo.; five great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Carmen Adams, Dylan Bennett, Lily Lamb and Olivia Vaughan; one sister Eldora Hill, Florence, Colo.; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Ashcraft, Alamo, Texas; Sharon (Orville) Gabower, Oakdale; one brother-in-law, Denzel Reed, Petersburg, Va.; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, June in 2010; two brothers, one in infancy and Melvin in 1997; and two sisters, one in infancy and Helen in 2010.
Funeral services were held on June 13 at 11 a.m. at St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church in Indian Creek with the Rev. Paul Heiderich officiating. Burial at Oakdale Cemetery. Friends met with the family at the Sonnenburg Funeral Home, 801 E Monowau Street, Tomah, WI 54660 on June 12, Tuesday evening from 4 until 8 p.m. and also at the church on Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of services.Online condolences may be given at www.sonnenburgfamilyfh.com
Blessed be his memory - he will be missed by all who knew him. This obituary was preapproved by Mom - and we know that she's happy now that Dad is with her.
