Mavis J. (Teteak) Neta, 86, passed away at Sharpe Care, Oconto Falls on July 20, 2012. She was born on August 30, 1925 on the family farm in the town of Spruce to the late William and Elva Teteak. She went to the Little Red School House in Spruce graduating from 8th grade, then went for 2 years at Oconto Falls and 2 years in Lena graduating with the Class of 1943. She married Raymond Neta on September 30, 1950 at St. Charles Catholic Church, Lena. She worked in Green Bay and Appleton before returning to Lena and worked for Frigo Cheese for almost 40 years. After retiring, Mavis worked for a few years at the Oconto Library. During that time she did volunteer work for the Feed My Sheep Food Pantry and distributed communion to the shut-ins with her best friend, Helen. She received the Oconto County Rural Urban recognition award in 2010. Mavis enjoyed going out on Sunday afternoons with her siblings and an occasional day of bingo with her sister. She really enjoyed when her grandchildren came to visit her. Her quick wit, and always had a quick come back and always made people laugh. She may have been a small lady, but she had a big heart. Survivors include her children, Joseph (Jody) Neta, Vicki (
Rusty) Johnson, grandchildren; Garrett (Amanda) Neta, Collin (Brooke) Neta; Christopher, Kyle and Kayla Johnson; her siblings, Bill (Audrey) Teteak, Annette Tonn, Connie (Tom) Strom, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond Neta, brother-in-law, Mike Tonn; and many brothers and sisters-in-law. Relatives and friends may call at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, 438 W. Main St., Lena from 4-8 p.m. on Monday with a Wake Service at 7 p.m. Mon. Visitation continues from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, Lena with Rev.
