Elizabeth Cizman

Elizabeth Cizman left this world to be with our Lord on Thursday, August 9, 2012. Elizabeth was born on August 29, 1915 in Flintville to the late Joseph and Frances (Pawlak) Hylok. In 1931, she married John Wesolowski and moved to a farm in South Chase. John preceded her in death in March of 1943. In November of 1946, she married Steve Cizman and they shared 58 happy years together. Steve preceded her in death in March of 2004. She continued to live on the family farm, which was her home for 76 years, until poor health forced her to move to an assisted living apartment in 2007. While there, she cherished the many visits from her family, friends, and former neighbors. She always remembered to thank them sincerely after each visit for taking the time to keep her company.

Elizabeth loved her home in the country and the years she spent working side by side with her husband on the farm. Her great joy was the family gatherings and spending time with her many grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and baker, especially her delicious apple pies and homemade bread, which were her specialties. Elizabeth spent much of her spare time crocheting many beautiful afghans, of which she gave away as gifts to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many friends. She was also a member of the Alter Rosary Society at SS Edward and Isidore Catholic Church.

Elizabeth is survived by her children: Dolores (Victor) Fischer, Ellie (David) Posen, Florian (Carol) Wesolowski, and Michael (Marlene) Cizman; 23 grandchildren, Kathy VanLanen, Kenneth Fischer, Mark Fischer, Richard Fischer, JoAnne Rosenberg, Jerry Fischer, Robert Fischer, Mary Beth Peterson, Deborah Rogers, Carol Utech, Linda Homel, Roger Kaminski, Randall Kaminski, Brenda Brady, Wendy Hazuga, Allen Wesolowski, Sharon Jarosz, Keven Wesolowski, Amy Peters, Jill Kozlowski, Steve Cizman, Patricia Laskowski, and Andrew Cizman; 43 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her two brothers, Harry (Ann) Hylok and Joe (Yvonne) Hylok; four sisters, Veronica (Leo) Wojkewicz, Frances Lepak, Regina (Tony) Berna, and Dorothy (Anthony) Prokop; one sister-in-law, Rose Hylok; and one brother-in-law, Ben Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son-in-law, Frank Kaminski, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Barbara Cizman; four great-grandchildren, Lisa Fischer, Robin Sandian, Jeremy Rosenberg, and Joshua Fischer; three brothers, Edward Hylok, Roman (Louise) Hylok, Leo (Susan) Hylok; sisters and brothers-in-law, Florence (Stanley) Kapla, Cecil Smith, Ann (Julius) Brudnicki, Helen (Ralph) Bluma, and Ralph Lepak; and her step-mother, Isabelle Brusky.

Friends may call at SS Edward and Isidore Church, 3667 Flintville Road, Flintville, from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at the church, Fr. Ralph Merkatoris presiding. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Marnocha Funeral Home, Pulaski, is serving the Cizman family.

The family wishes to give a special thank you to mom's son Florian and her granddaughters Carol Utech and Linda Homel also the staff at Longview Terrace, along with Southern Care Hospice, who were special caregivers for the past several years.
