Myron Skaleski Obituary
Skaleski, Myron

Myron Skaleski, 74, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, died Wednesday, November 28, at St. Vincent Hospital after a valiant struggle with amyloidosis, a rare blood disease. Myron, along with his twin brother, Mel, was born August 21, 1938, the fourth and fifth children of Stanley and Florence Skaleski's family of seven. Myron attended St. Joseph Catholic Grade School and was a 1957 graduate of Central Catholic (Premontre) High School. After high school, he attended St. Norbert College where he played football on the school's championship football team.

Myron worked for over 35 years as an insurance inspector for Underwriters Service Company and Information Providers, Inc. He knew the highways, back roads, villages and towns of Wisconsin like the back of his hand and could give directions to any place in the state.

On May 14, 1966, the "happiest day of his life" Myron married Jan Dickenshied. Together they raised two sons, Jim (Chrissy) and Tom (Kerstin) and enjoyed their five grandchildren, Brecklyn, Brody, Benjamin, Courtney and Nicholas.

Myron was an avid golfer and spent many seasons with his twin brother, Mel, at Brown County and Royal Scot Golf Courses where they golfed and placed bets with their golfing buddies. Golf was always followed by competitive cribbage on Wednesdays and Friday night was couples' night for golf, dinner and a little showdown. Spring always meant a trip to Alabama for more golfing and lots of family and extended family fun on the beach.

Family has always been number one for Myron and the seven Skaleski siblings and their families. They are a tight knit, loving, supportive and prayerful group, helping Myron with every step of his difficult journey.

Survivors include his wife, Jan; sons, Jim (Chrissy) and their children, Courtney and Nicholas; Tom (Kerstin) and Tom's children, Brecklyn, Brody and Benjamin; his twin brother, Mel (Jan), brothers, Vic (Judy), Nestor (Maureen), Bob (Phyl), Dennis (Mary); sister, Sharon Delaurelle (Dennis) and honorary brother, Dave (Ann) Oxley. Myron is further survived by his brothers-in-law, Richard (Pat) and Robert (Barbara) Dickenshied; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Avenue, from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 2. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday. Visitation will continue on Monday, December 3, at St. Agnes Church, 1484 Ninth Street, from 10 to 11 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church at 11 a.m. with Rev. Gerald R. Falk officiating. Entombment will be at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.

Myron's family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the care and concern given to Myron by Dr. Winkler and Kristen Rodeheaver and the staff of Green Bay Oncology along with the entire staff of St. Vincent 9th floor and Myron's "two saints," Mel and Jan, who were always at our side. We also appreciated the many cards, phone calls, emails and texts of encouragement that came our way from neighbors, friends and relatives.
