Howard "Fuzz" Bubnik

Howard John "Fuzz" Bubnik, 86, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away at his home on November 28, 2012. He was born on April 27, 1926, in Sturgeon Bay to George and Adelia (Ackmann) Bubnik. After graduating from Sturgeon Bay High School, Fuzz served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1947; he retired from the reserves after 30 years of service. He recently traveled to Washington D.C. as part of the Old Glory Honor Flight Program.

On July 16, 1960, he married Theresa Pisha at St. Joseph Church; she preceded him in death on January 13, 2008. Fuzz worked as a self-employed painter for most of his life. He enjoyed having cocktail hour everyday, going to the casino, and attending Packers games. Fuzz also enjoyed many years of traveling and camping with his wife. He was a member of Amvets Post #51, Christ the King Episcopal Church, and the Baylake-Badger Coachmen Camping Club.

Survivors include three children, Scott (Kim) Bubnik, Sturgeon Bay; David Bubnik, Sturgeon Bay; Linda (Kevin) Braunsky, Sun Prarie; three grandchildren, Grace and Abby Bubnik; and Hailey Braunsky; one sister, Carolyn Resler, Sturgeon Bay; two sisters-in-law, Lenore Bubnik and Arleen Bubnik; and several nieces and nephews. Fuzz was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, George and Robert Bubnik; in-laws, Kenneth "Pooky" and Katherine "Kitty" Tess, Joyce Bubnik, and William Resler; one niece, Jan Bubnik; and one nephew, Mark Resler.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., December 3, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. George Hillman officiating. Entombment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum with military honors. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
