Gerard J. "Jerry" Monfils, 90, of Brussels, passed away at his home on December 8, 2012. He was born on February 24, 1922, in the town of Gardner to Emil and Louise (Parins) Monfils. On April 24, 1945, he married Viola Euclide in Namur. Jerry was a welder and pipefitter for the local shipyards and in the paper mills. He was in the Pipefitters Union and helped form the first Boy Scout Troop in Brussels where he was an active leader. He was a talented craftsman who helped in the building of his children's homes. Jerry enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Viola; one daughter, Rena (Myron) LaLuzerne; two sons, Randall (Mary) Monfils; Rodney (Katie) Monfils all of Brussels; grandchildren, Lee (Lynn) LaLuzerne, Kim Laluzerne Rohrbough, Jason (Virginia) Monfils, Jennifer (Paul) Matte, Jamie (Tony) Marola, Jane (Nick) Alsteen, Jessica Monfils, Amanda and Adam Monfils; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Marvin (Jean) Monfils, Green Bay; Wilmer Monfils, Green Bay; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Monfils, Brussels, Millie Monfils, Sturgeon Bay, Lucy Guilette (friend Art Alexander), Green Bay; one brother-in-law, Harold (Laverne) Euclide, Brussels. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Walter, Lawrence, Sylvester, and Clarence.
Funeral services will be on December 12, 2012, at 10:15 a.m. at the Forbes Funeral Home and 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis and St. Mary's Parish in Brussels with Rev. Pius Cotter officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary of the Snows Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Forbes Funeral Home and after 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Funeral Home until the time of services.
