Brett Michael Buhr, 13, of Brussels, passed away at St.Vincent's Hospital, Green Bay, on Feb. 22, 2013. He was born February 11, 2000, in Green Bay, to Timothy and Michele (Martin) Buhr. He was currently in 7th Grade at Southern Door Middle School.
Brett had been a member of the Kolberg Kougars football team and went on to play football at Southern Door Middle School. He was full of energy and loved doing anything outdoors. He was an avid hunter, getting his first buck at 10 years old and a buck every season thereafter. Brett's plan was to be a game warden when he grew up. Brett also enjoyed fishing, riding his snowmobile and the four wheeler. He enjoyed time at the Buhr's cabin, swimming, and camping. Brett was a very hard worker. He was already running the skid steer for his Dad, working at the saw mill, and mowing lawns.
Most of all, Brett enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, he especially loved his brothers. He loved bowling and playing checkers with Grandma Dorothy and Grandpa Alvin and the Wednesday cook outs and cooyah games with Great-Grandpa Buhr ("Gramps"). Brett also collected John Deere tractors.
Survivors include his parents; three brothers, Brandon, Dylan, and Devin, all at home; paternal grandmother, Darlene Buhr, Brussels; maternal grandparents, Alvin and Dorothy Martin, Green Bay; aunts and uncles, Shane (Jennifer) Buhr, Brussels; Melissa (Jose) Martinez, Brussels; Erin (Dustin) Fritsch, Sturgeon Bay; Hope (Steve) DeFere, Sturgeon Bay; Melissa Martin, Green Bay; numerous cousins and many friends. His god-parents were Jennifer Buhr and Tom Grosbeier. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Anthony Buhr, Jr.; an uncle, Jake Buhr, a cousin, Elena Martinez.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at St. Francis and St. Mary Parish, the Rev. Pius Cotter officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay (www.forbesfuneralhome.com) and then after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church until time of services. A prayer service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
