Carol R. (Allcox) Geurts, 86, Jacksonville, FL, formerly of Green Bay, went to her heavenly home on April 5, 2013. She was born on November 17, 1926 to the late John and Philomene (Verheyen) Allcox, in DePere. Carol was a 1944 graduate of DePere High School. She retired from the Wisconsin Telephone Co. (AT&T) in 1981, a career she began in 1944. Carol was a member of St. Willebrord Catholic Church, the Telephone Co. Pioneers and the Fraternal Order of Police. She volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul and other local charities as well as being active in the Parkview Mobile Park. Her later years were spent in Florida surrounded by friends, family and faith, where she continued to be a loving mother, grandmother and member of the Jacksonville Senior Citizen Center.
Survivors include her son Patrick Gaughan, Jacksonville, Fl; her grandchildren John Christopher and Kayla Gaughan, Dawn Gaughan, Clayton and Sara Plank; step children Gary and Margaret Geurts, Jim and Sandy Geurts, Jim and Rose Shelton; two brothers Jim and Sella Allcox; Steve and Helen Allcox; Sisters Joan and Merle (Olejniczak) Baeten, Judy and Harold Nackers and Barbara and (Mary Ann) Allcox; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin "Bud" Geurts; her parents, John "Curly" and Philomene Allcox; brothers Bill, Norb, Paul and Dickie; sisters Rita, Patti Zimmerman; brothers-in-law, Richard Zimmerman and Ron Olejniczak.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. A parish wake service will conclude the visitation at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Willebrord Catholic Church, 209 S. Adams St. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Friday with Rev. Andrew Cribben, O.Praem officiating. Entombment in the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
