Bernard L. Courchaine Sr., 61, Howard, passed away at a local hospital of heart complications on Tuesday, April 23, 2013. He was born in Oconto Falls on Dec. 30, 1951 to the late Wilfred and Margaret (Trudeau) Courchaine. Bernard attended the Air Force Academy and served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged. He married Cherryl A. Newbury in Milwaukee on Feb. 23, 1974. Bernard was employed at Dedicated Systems as Operations Manager for 20 years. He has been a Green Bay resident for the past 35 years, enjoyed bowling, fishing, NASCAR, softball, football, hunting, golf, playing cards and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Cherryl; children, Jamie L. Courchaine; Bernard L. (Peggy A.) Courchaine Jr.; Christopher G. (Danette S.) Courchaine; grandchildren, Alex Courchaine, Ryan Plog, Andrew Wojkiewicz, Tyler Courchaine, Shana Courchaine, Samantha Ploederl, Austin Courchaine, AJ Courchaine; brothers and sisters, Margaret (Bill) Pigeon; Mary (Wayne) Gressick; Jeannie (Jerry) Bryfczynski; William (Rongjiao) Courchaine; Joan (Bob) Archiquette; Joe (Donna) Courchaine; Barb (Claude) Tremblay; Ruth (Guy) Micholic; Wilfred 'Wink' (Traci) Courchaine; Tom (Dori) Courchaine; Richard 'Jock' (Diana) Courchaine; Teresa Nowak; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rod (Linda) Everson; Donna (Curt) Sobye; Dannette VerBruggen; Donald Newbury; Daniel Newbury; Diane (Al) Colbo; DuWayne (Lynn) Newbury; special friends, Michael Hintz; Ron LeGros; Wally Gondeck; Jerry Bigelow; Curt Spaulding; further survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Bernard was preceded in death by his parents & parents-in-law; son, Mark A. Courchaine; brothers-in-law, Dave Newbury; Ronald VerBruggen and nephew David Courchaine.

Family and friends may call at the Pfotenhauer Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Howard-Suamico location, 1145 Cardinal Lane, on Friday, Apr. 26 from 4 until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2561 Glendale Ave., Howard, from 10 until 11:00 a.m. Prayer Service 7:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
