Kemp, Matthew "Matt" C.

Matthew "Matt" C. Kemp, 82, Green Bay, passed away on July 7, 2013. He was born on June 17, 1931 to David and Violet Kemp in Sparta, WI. On September 24, 1951 he married Irma Yanke. He was drafted and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Matt obtained his BA degree in Education at UW La Crosse and spent over 20 years as an elementary school teacher. In addition to teaching, Matt and his wife, Irma, spent years working together in their craft business, Kemp's Kreations. In his retirement years, he was a shuttle driver for S & L Motors telling stories to the passengers about his dog, Dunker, who was named after the UWGB Booster Club. Matt was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and a Die-Hard Chicago Cubs fan and loved singing "Go Cubs Go" after every Cub win, limited as they were.

Survivors include daughter, Debbie and Craig Amundson; son, Steve and Mary Kemp; daughter, Lori and Dave Hertwig; grandchildren, Katie (Rob) Beyreis, Angela (Adam) Horn, Shannon (Jason) Rasmussen, Brad and Zak Kemp, Kristy and Kenny Hertwig; great-grandchildren, Hailey and Natalie Horn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Irma and brother, David P. Kemp, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1301 South Ridge Road, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Earl Vorpagel III officiating. Military honors will follow. Interment will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Howard. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lyndahl.com.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Matt's name.

We want to thank everyone at Rennes Health Care for all their care and compassion they showed to Matt "Cold Beer Here" and the Kemp family.
