Powers, Franklin J.
Franklin J. Powers, 87, Green Bay, died Wednesday, August 21, 2013. He was born November, 13, 1925, in Appleton to Walter A. and Frances (Wagester) Powers.
Frank served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater during WWII. On March 12, 1947, he married Mary Vaughan in Brimfield, IL. Frank had been employed at Northwest Engineering for 32 years. He and Mary were active members of and volunteers at St. John the Baptist Parish in Howard. Frank enjoyed over-the-road traveling, seeing the countryside, and meeting new friends. He was a member of the American Legion Post #638 in Elmwood, IL.
Frank is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, Stephen and his wife, Donna Powers, Douglas Powers; a daughter-in-law, Betty Powers; nine grandchildren, John, Heather, Alicia, Clarice, Brianna, Joel, Sara, Jenny and Garrett; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Powers, two sisters-in-law, Anita Powers and Elizabeth Powers.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis B. Powers; an infant daughter, Martha; a granddaughter, Angela Powers; two brothers, Jerome A. and Robert Powers; two sisters, Charlene and Susan; and two great-grandchildren, Oscar and Bella.
Friends may call at St John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave. (one quarter mile east of the corner of Cardinal Ln. and Glendale Ave.) from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with Rev. John Bergstadt officiating. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family.
