Martha E. De Mars, 99, Green Bay, died Friday, August 23, 2013. She was born on July 23, 1914 in the town of Chase to Anton and Julia (Murdzek) Brzeczkowski.
On November 24, 1936, Martha married Stanley Matczak. They farmed together in the town of Chase. Stanley preceded her in death on June 15, 1957. She later married Clarence De Mars in Green Bay on June 6, 1970 and together they enjoyed 40 years of marriage. Martha enjoyed gardening, traveling and visiting with her family. She was kind, loving and independent to the end.
Martha is survived by her children and their spouses, Eva and Larry Vanden Bush, Bernard and Patricia Matczak, Dale Matczak; Clarence's children, Patricia (Mike) Bishop, Jean De Mars, Lynn Cadena; 22 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; her sister and brother-in-law, Virgie and Ray Brusky as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Stanley and Clarence; brothers and sisters and their spouses, Frank and Jean Brzeczkowski, Ceil and Jake Gracyalny, Joseph and Helen Brzeczkowski, Stanley and Edna Brzeczkowski, Sr. Jean Brzeczkowski, Felix Brzeczkowski, Rose and Henry Ryczkowski, Betty and Julius Ryczkowski; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mary and Joseph Palinski, Lucille and Charles Miller, Selma Matczak, Helen and Matthias Katch, Teofil and Sophie Matczak, Martha and John Kozicki; Clarence's daughter Nancy De Mars and great-granddaughter, Angel Matczak.
Friends may call at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 124 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with Rev. Robert Konkol O.F.M., officiating. Burial will be in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery, Pulaski. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Martha's name.
