Poquette, Alfred "Melvin'
Alfred "Melvin" Poquette, 80, Pembine, Wis., was born to eternal life on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013. He was born in Hermansville, Mich., on Sept. 12, 1932, to the late Violet (Ayotte) Poquette and Alfred "Fred" Poquette. While serving in the Air Force, he married his high school sweetheart of 59 years, the late Rita Smaglick on Oct. 10, 1953, in Hermansville, Mich. Together they have five children, Dale (Donna) Poquette, Valerie Reyment, Karen (Marvin) Gillis, David (Bonnie) Poquette and Donald (Regina) Poquette. This blessed them with eight grandchildren, as well as four great-grandchildren.
They lived in Sturtevant for 12 years before moving to Pulaski, where they raised their family, then retiring in Pembine. During this time he worked for JI Case in Racine and FMC in Green Bay.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. (CST) on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Spalding, Mich., with the Floriano Stecker American Legion post #340 rites at 6:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. (CST) on Friday Aug. 30, 2013, at St. John Neumann Church in Hermansville with Fr. Michael Vichich officiating. Burial will take place in the Meyer Township Cemetery after Mass. A luncheon will follow burial in the church parish hall.
