Claire David Trepanier passed away Oct. 23, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer and diabetes. Claire was born Feb. 10, 1948, in Oconto Falls, to the late Clarence "Comp" and Carol (Portier) Trepanier. Claire was the oldest of eight children. He was a graduate of Oconto High School in 1966. After graduation Claire joined the United States Coast Guard and served from 1967 to 1971. Claire married Sue Bostedt on Oct. 16, 1971. Claire was a County Board Supervisor for 23 years, Oconto City Alderman eight years, Newcap Board of directors in 1987 and Newcap chairman of the board 12 years, and owned and operated "Claire's Insulation for seven years. Also self-employed lawncare and snow removal 17 years and caretaker of Housing Management nine years. Claire was a friends to all and found laughter to be the best medicine! After falling ill, Claire moved to the Veterans Home at King, Wis., 2 1/2 years ago, where he met many new friends and a very special couple, Erling and Joanne Landsverk. Claire was asked to serve on the Board there and had a great talent to give tours of the Veterans Home to many people and recruiting many of them to move there with all of its fine qualities and the many events for the Veterans.
Claire is survived by his wife, Sue of 42 years; children, Chad, Chrissy, Cory (Cassondra); grandsons, Zak and Parker, step-granddaughter, Shanice; great-grandson, Isaac; family dogs, Dobie and Ace; family, Dan (Mary) Trepanier, AR; Lou Anne (David) Roskowski, Green Bay; Mike (Cindy) Trepanier, Oconto; Cathy (Rich) Daeda, New Berlin; Ken (Dawn) Trepanier, West Salem; Pat (Julie) Trepanier, Oconto; sister-in-law, Patty Trepanier, Oconto; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Trepanier.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, with prayer services by Deacon Walter Kaszynski at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Oconto. Mass of Christian Burial will be co-celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with Rev. Joel Sember and Rev. Michael Lightner officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery with Military Rites by Oconto American Legion Post #74 and the US Coast Guard. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net.
