Jean Augustson, 73, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away at the Skilled Nursing Facility on Oct. 25, 2013. She was born on June 6, 1940, in Windsor, Ontario, to Hugh and Margerie (Jordan) Munday. On July 7, 1962, she married Donald H. Augustson in Ontario.
Jean worked as an administrative assistant for the Insurance Center of Sturgeon Bay for many years. She more recently had been employed by Bay Benefits Group until her health began to fail. Jean and her husband enjoyed many years touring the country on motorcycles and three-wheelers. She and Don were long time members of the Gold Wing Road Riders and the Gold Wing Touring Association. Her interest in motorcycling led her to get her motorcycle license at the age of 65.
Jean will always be remembered for her hospitality and the pleasure she found in cooking for family and friends. She was also a master seamstress and enjoyed making clothes, drapes and Halloween costumes for her kids and grandchildren. Jean especially enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren, who loved her dearly.
She is survived by her husband, 2 sons, David (Dawn) Augustson, Sturgeon Bay; Darrel Augustson, Indianola, IA; 4 grandchildren, Maxwell, Megan, Joshua, and Jenna. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church in Jacksonport. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to
