Vlies, Glen A.

Glen A. Vlies, 66 years old of Antioch, Ill., passed away unexpectedly Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at Advocate Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, Ill. He was born Feb. 4, 1947, in Green Bay, Wis., the son of the late Earl Vlies and Louise (Bickel) Crossman, living in the Chicago area and Round Lake Heights, before settling in Antioch in 1989. Glen proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during Vietnam. Before his retirement in 2011, Glen had worked for many years as a Data-Com Tech for St. Therese Medical Center, Zenith, Grainger, and Cardinal Health. He enjoyed: gardening, fishing, bird watching, treating everyone he met as family, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, and especially being with his grandchildren. On June 6, 1987, he married Pamela Day in Waukegan, Ill.

Survivors include his wife, Pam; six children, Matt Vlies, Zion, Ill.; Kevin (Michelle) Vlies, Green Bay, Wis.; Chris Minor, Antioch, Ill.; Nick Vlies, Zion, Ill.; Jen (Steve) Newton, Antioch, Ill.; and Michael Minor, Chicago; six grandchildren, Emma Leigh, Briana, Colin, Hannah, Joshua, and Charlotte; six siblings, Bob (Arlene) Vlies, Pelican Lake, Wis.; Michael Vlies, Texas; Eugene (Pito) Vlies, Milwaukee, Wis.; George Crossman, Mary (Roger) Tank, and Thomas (Amy) Crossman, all of Green Bay, Wis.; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83) Antioch, IL 60002 with visitation beginning at Noon.
