DeNamur, Donald

Donald "Don" DeNamur, 84, Green Bay, died peacefully, Monday, December 16, 2013, at home. Born in Green Bay, March 21, 1929, he is the son of the late Matthew and Mildred (Kocha) DeNamur. Don married the former Joyce Elaine Cartier, September 16, 1950, at Zion Methodist Church in Green Bay. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953 in the ASA (Army Security Agency) Signal Intelligence Branch. After his military service, Don joined the Green Bay Fire Department and proudly served the community for 33 years wearing Badge #1. It was his passion and compassion to help others that led him to become a member of Green Bay's first group of licensed Paramedics until he retired in 1989 as Deputy Chief. He liked woodworking, fishing, and most importantly all of his volunteer work particularly at the Red Cross. Don could build or fix anything and was an all-around handy man.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; children, Donn (Sindy) DeNamur all of Green Bay, David DeNamur of Minneapolis, MN, Dale (Bonnie) DeNamur, and Janelle (Steve) Maricque all of Green Bay; 3 grandchildren, Matthew DeNamur, Brett (Vanity Gee) Maricque, and Jenna Maricque; 2 great grandchildren, Trae and Amiyah; siblings, Beverly LaFave, Mary Ann Ruben, Darrold (Judy) DeNamur, James (Angie) DeNamur, Judy (Dennis) Splitgerber, Kenneth (Kim) DeNamur, and Sharon (Gene) Toebe; sister-in-law, Suzanne DeNamur; brother-in-law and second husband of Barbara DeNamur, Geno Marrapodi; 3 sisters-in-law, Dorothy, Jeanne and Bobbi Cartier; many other relatives and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jennifer; siblings, Robert DeNamur, and Larry DeNamur; sister-in-law, Barbara (DeNamur) Marrapodi brothers-in-law, Richard LaFave, William Ruben, and Calvin, Merlin, and Kenny Cartier.

Visitation at Malcore (West) Funeral Home, 1530 West Mason Street, Friday (12/20) from 4-8 P.M. Saturday's visitation will continue at Bethany Methodist Church, from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Randy Richter officiating. Burial at Nicolet Memorial Gardens. Visit to send a condolence to the family. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Don's name.
