Killinger, David A.

David A. Killinger, 67, Pulaski, passed away peacefully with family at his side on Saturday, April 12, 2014. The son of Nicholas and Sylvia (Holma) Killinger was born December 27, 1946, in Peeksville. Dave graduated with a bachelor's degree from Northern Michigan University, and with a master's degree from Viterbo University in LaCrosse. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, including two tours in Vietnam, from 1966-1970. On July 19, 1969, Dave was united in marriage with Sandra Sue Schwert in Butternut. Dave worked for many years in retail management prior to moving to Pulaski. He taught technical education for 22 years at Pulaski High School until his retirement in 2002. Following his "retirement," Dave worked as a handyman. He enjoyed the time he spent coaching basketball and baseball. Dave was a member of Assumption B.V.M. Parish, and was a lifelong member of American Legion Post #337 in Pulaski, as well as VFW Post #7300 in Glidden. He was an avid outdoorsman. Dave truly enjoyed spending his time at "camp" and "the lake." He loved hunting and fishing, as well as woodworking. Dave was always working on projects or fixing things.

Survivors include his wife, Sue, Pulaski; children: Shannon (Christian) Schuster, Green Bay; and Brian (Karla) Killinger, Pulaski; two loving granddaughters, who truly adored their "Papa," Brooklyn and Ella Killinger, Pulaski; five brothers: Nick (Lois), Eagle River; Gerald (Jean), Fond du Lac; William (Judy), Granite Bay, CA.; John (Gail), Green Bay; and James (Mary) Killinger, Peeksville; three godchildren: Sandy, Jill, and Dustin; his beloved canine companion, Maggie Sue; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and numerous friends.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clarence and Dorothy (Lenuson) Schwert.

Friends may call at Assumption B.V.M. Church, 119 E. Pulaski Street, Pulaski, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday. Veterans service at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Closing Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation continues after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, Fr. Bob Konkol, O.F.M., presiding, followed by full military honors by the Pulaski Area Veterans. Burial will take place at a later date in Cayuga Union Cemetery in Ashland County.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established. The family would like to thank Dr. David Groteluschen and his staff for their compassionate care, as well as the caring staff of Hospice Advantage.
