Arleen Guns Obituary

Guns, Arleen

Arleen L. (Vanden Bergh) Guns, 90, joined her husband in Heaven on June 6, 2017. The daughter of William and Catherine (Heezen) Vanden Bergh was born October 5, 1926 in Bellevue. On November 16, 1946, she married Raphael Guns, he preceded her in death on February 9, 1983. The couple farmed in Glenmore for 35 years until May,1982. During this time, they raised 16 children and were blessed with 54 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was a long time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Glenmore where she was a member of the Altar Society and also taught CCD for 17 years. Her greatest joy was spending time gathered at her home for every holiday, sitting on the swing, birthday parties, playing cards, golf cart rides, and water exercise at the CP Center. A summer highlight with her grandchildren was being their manager of her very own "Grandma's Great's" softball team for the last 15 years. She truly loved life, her family and her LORD.

Her children include: Margaret (Wayne) Dombrowicki, Lucy (Pat) Sigmund, Wally (Kitty) Guns, Dave Guns, Bernice (Tom) Gilson, Shirley (Bob) Brittnacher, Chuck (Jean) Guns, Bev (Lyle) Thiem, Bill (Pam) Guns, Julie (Mark) Baugnet, Joe (Kathy) Guns, Eileen (Al) VanderKinter, Tom (Mary) Guns, Cliff (Debbie) Guns, Amy (John) Beyer, and Carie (Jeff) Jens; daughter-in-law Janet Titulaer.

Her 13 siblings include: Fr. George Vanden Bergh, Dorothy (Andy) Rosek, Florence Vanden Bergh, Marion (Smokie) Calewarts, Peter (Joyce) Vanden Bergh, Ben (Jean) Vanden Bergh, Ray (Lynn) Vanden Bergh, Norma (Stanley) Gezella, Sr. Pat Vanden Bergh, Elaine (John) Srnka, Joan (Gene) Weber, Bonnie (Jack) Baldschun, and Mark (Patty) Vanden Bergh.

Ray's 8 siblings include: Louella (Wencil) Froelich, Isabel (Rich) Puyleart, Gordy (Joyce) Guns, Ursula (Ray) Puyleart, Carol (Ron) Brice, LaVerne (Donald) Delaruelle, Bob (Marilyn) Guns, and Jim (Sally) Guns.

In the short year and a half I have known Arleen I had fallen in love with her. Her wit and zest for her beliefs were refreshing. She talked of her family with such love and she had such an incredibly large and wonderful life with her family. Arleen will be missed as I look out my kitchen window but I know she is in good hands. God Bless the family you made her proud.

Aunt Arlene was an amazing woman. Faith filled, patient, loving, fun, and just loved life. She touched so many lives--and many more just through the incredible model of life that she lived. Our family sends our love, for we know she will be missed. We trust that God holds her close and that she is with Ray and all of the loving family who have passed. Sending all our love...
