Charlotte Elizabeth Hoyer Zerfoss, of Simpsonville, South Carolina passed away on January 26, 2013.
Charlotte Zerfoss was born on June 19, 1938 in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Robert Bevan Hoyer and Mary Reed Hoyer. Her family moved to North Carolina in 1951, and she graduated from Hendersonville High School (NC) in 1957. She married Robert Williamson Zerfoss of Hendersonville in 1959.
Mrs. Zerfoss was a teacher's aide for 29 years. Her patience, talent and love were appreciated by students and teachers alike.
Since 1968, Charlotte was an active member at Mauldin United Methodist Church. She was involved with teaching Sunday school, sports, Bible studies and served on numerous committees. One of her favorite church events was attending her Martha Circle. As a member of the Martha Circle, Charlotte formed lifelong friends whom she loved like sisters.
She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed all types of handiworks. She absolutely loved gardening. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family…especially her grandkids. Everybody who knew Charlotte witnessed her joyous spirit and smile.

We will miss that cheerful hello from over the fence, that twinkle in her eye when she'd talk to you, her infectious laugh, and the heartfelt love she gave to all. She was always so happy to share "gifts" from her yard with us. She'd come over pulling that wagon full of plants she'd just dug up. She loved her yard and could make anything grow. We feel so fortunate to have had Charlotte in our lives. She touched so many with her kindness. She was a fighter and never let anything get her down. Her family was everything and she was always proud of you all. We will treasure the times we spent together and look forward to knowing she will always be with us in spirit. Charlotte will shine bright in heaven as she did here on earth. Our hearts go out to all of you.

What a lovely lady, who had an infectious laugh. Charlotte was such a big help to me when we were at East Gantt together. I especially recall that she enjoyed coloring, back in the day you had to do this for bulletin boards(!,and I didn't like to color! God bless her.

Dear Family,
I will miss your Mother so much, especially having her sit behind me every Sunday morning so we could catch up on the latest happenings. She was such an inspiration for me and how she handled her cancer fight so valiantly.

Holding dear to the memories of a most gracious, kind and loving lady who made so very many young children happy as they worked with "The Letter Lady!" Charlotte was my rock for many, many years. I know she never looked back, only forward in life. A beautiful soul has left this place only to become an angel among the stars. Love and peace to Bob, Marsha, Judy, and all the others who were Charlotte's world. May God hold you all in the palm of His hand.
