Memories and Condolences
for Harry Rivers

Not sure what to say?

I am Jan Whittow's sister. The only time I met the wonderful Rivers' family was when Carolyn wed my nephew, Ryan. My fondest memory of that day was watching Harry and Carolyn do the Carolina Shag. I still smile at the memory. What a friendly, gracious man he was. Carolyn, you mean a lot to our family and I want you to know that your Virginia relatives are mourning with you. God bless all of you!

To the Rivers family:
So sorry to hear about Harry. Harry and I were friends since kindergarden in Cheraw. We also attended the same church during our childhood. Thanks to Facebook the Class of 1969 from Cheraw High School was able to reconnect. Enjoyed seeing Harry at our class reunion in 2009. He was such an outstanding individual.
My prayers are with you all.

Harry I. Rivers Jr. was one of a kind. We met and became friends in the heat of a Charleston summer in a cauldron called The Citadel. His friendship was unwavering and true, his wit dry and quick, his intellect piercing and bright. I am very fortunate to have had Harry as a friend and I am so sorry for your loss.
