Gene Earl Vaughn

Gene Earl Vaughn, 81, widower of Hazel Kirby Vaughn, died Tuesday, November 20, 2012.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late John Earl and Eva E. Hix Vaughn.

A proud member of the first 12th grade graduating class of Mauldin High School, Mr. Vaughn worked as a Transportation Engineer for 65 years. He was a member of Sans Souci Baptist Church and the SC National Guard.

Surviving are a daughter, Cynthia Huie (Bill) of Greenville; two sons, Richard Vaughn (Theresa) of Easley and Stanley Vaughn (Jacqueline) of Pelzer; a sister, Gerry Dejager (Walt) of Duluth, GA; and seven grandchildren, Samantha Daniel, Sarah Huie, Justin, Brian, Connor, Jacob and Emma Grace Vaughn.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 23, 2012 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown with the funeral service following at 1:30 p.m. in the Downtown Chapel. Burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to United Hospice, 102 Curtis Street, Simpsonville, SC 29681.

The family will be at the home of his daughter, 317 Arrezzo Drive, Greenville.
