Bernice June Bowick Greer Bernice June Bowick loved to travel and one of her favorite songs was "Far Away Places". She traveled the world and on Sunday, August 30, 2015, she earned her wings and took her final trip home. She was married to J. C. Bowick for over 65 years. Born in Yancy County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Jesse James and Kate Hughes Deyton. She was a homemaker and member of Praise Cathedral. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are daughters Trena Draughn (John), of Surfside Beach and Myrna Smith and (Rod), of Murrells Inlet; son, Brad Bowick (Cyndi), of North Myrtle Beach; a grandchild, Blake Sloan (Katherine); and sisters, Faye, Wanda, Barbara, Maxine, and Joyce; and brother, Larry. She was predeceased by sisters, Eunice and Evelyn. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2015 from 12:00 to 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Downtown Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Alvin Bailey Marietta Claude "Alvin" Bailey, 64, of Marietta, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015. Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Garvin Bailey and Mary Frances Myers Bailey. Mr. Bailey was a Residential Builder and a member of North Fork Baptist Church. Surviving is his wife of 43 years, Kathy Lindsey Bailey; two daughters: Ashley Metcalf (Marc) and Alexandra Bailey; two brothers: Clyde Bailey (Rebecca) and Harold Johnson (Rhonna); two sisters: Nancy Gilbert and Delores Kepner (Tom). In addition to his parents, Alvin was predeceased by two sisters: Sue Myers and Juanita Reed. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:20 p.m. Thursday afternoon with a chapel service to follow at 3:30 p.m. all at The Howze Mortaury. Polly C. Bradshaw Greer Polly Ann Church Bradshaw, 67, widow of Tommy Edward Bradshaw, died August 24, 2015. A native of Spartanburg, daughter of the late J.H. and Minnie Gilbert Church, she was a retired textile employee and a member of Victory Tabernacle. Surviving are two sons, Ed Bradshaw (Staci) of Landrum and Tracy Bradshaw (Deanna) of Hendersonville, NC; two brothers, Clyde Gilbert of Simpsonville and Jackie Church of Greenville; two sisters, Lucille Crossman of Hendersonville, NC and Kay Brank of Greer and two grandchildren, Caley and Olivia Bradshaw. Mrs. Bradshaw was predeceased by two brothers, Leon Church and Gerald Church. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Wood Memorial Park conducted by Rev. Suzanne E. Russell and Rev. Paul White. The family is at the home of the son, Ed Bradshaw. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials to be made to Victory Tabernacle, 316 East King Street, Flat Rock, NC 28726. James Steve Brown Greenville James Steven Brown, 65, husband of Sandra Kay Fletcher Brown, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015. Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Roger Bryan and Margaret Irene Spearman Brown. He retired from General Electric and was a member of Reedy River Missionary Baptist Church, Greenville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Dawn Stone (Todd) of Belton; step-children, Troy Arnold of Greenville and Cory Chappell (Leslie) of Clayton, NC; brother, Roger Bradley Brown (Patricia) of Pelzer; grandchildren, Mason, Olivia and Emory Stone, Jeremiah and Dai-Shun Chappell, and Jamal and Omarian Hampton. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 pm Saturday, August 29 at Reedy River Missionary Baptist Church. The service will follow at 1:30 pm at the church. Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens. Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are children, Cathy Denise Tinsley of Anderson, Anthony "Tony" Tinsley of Pendleton, Jeff Tinsley of Pelzer, Robert David Burton of Pelzer, Angela Burton Smith of Pelzer; brother, Harold Gilbert of Pendleton; sisters, Connie Chandler of Anderson and Helen Suda of Trenton, Michigan; twenty-one grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Leroy Gilbert. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Friday, August 28, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
