Moody, Lon - Greer  
Lon C. Moody Lyman Lon C. Moody, 85, died December 25, 2014. A native of Greenville County, he was a son of the late L.F. and Josie Lee White Moody, a retired employee of Bell South, a member of Apalache Baptist Church, and a U.S. Army Korean War veteran. He was a member of the Bailey Masonic Lodge, Hejaz, and Hejaz Marching Patrol. Surviving are his wife, Christine H. Moody of the home; six daughters, Sheila Medford (Terry) of Greer, Sharon Alexander (Neal) of Lyman, Trudy Blackwell (Steve) of Greer, Judy Chapman (Tim) of Greer, Debbie Dillard (Chuck Richard) of Duncan and Judy Adams (Don) of Moore; three sisters, Frances Green of Powdersville, Iva Jo Elrod of Piedmont and Patricia McKinney of Greenville; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He also was predeceased by his first wife of fifty-four years, Dot Moody; a brother, Leon Moody; and two sisters, Connie Moody and Doris Boswell. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Apalache Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Eddie Cooper. Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be held 10 - 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church prior to the service. The family is at their respective homes. Virginia McCullough Greenville Virginia McCullough, 91, widow of Marvin F. McCullough, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014. Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Hattie Lee Smith Landreth. She earned her LPN at Greenville General Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of Dunean Baptist Church. Virginia was the last member of her immediate family. She is survived by a daughter, Virginia Ann Smith of Landrum; three sons. Marvin Lewis McCullough of Camden, Hugh F. McCullough of Honea Path, and Dennis Ray McCullough of Savannah, GA; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Friday, December 26, 2014 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Martin, Donald Payne - Greensboro  
Donald Payne Martin Greensboro, NC Mr. Donald Payne Martin, 70, died on December 17, 2014 at Moses Cone Hospital. A Requiem Eucharist will be held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with inurnment to follow in the church columbarium. Donald was born in Greensboro on December 18, 1943 to the late James B. and Macie Tuttle Martin. He graduated from Bessemer High School in 1962, and received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in 1966. He graduated from OCS and Airborne training prior to assignment to combat duties in Vietnam, then served 21 more years in the active and inactive reserve, retiring as a Major. Among his decorations and awards are the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 4 Campaign stars, parachutist badge, and Special Forces Tab. Mr. Martin worked for the General Services Administration, and serving in Washington, Denver, and as the GSA Director for Support Activities in the Far East based in Okinawa, Japan. He elected an early retirement from the Federal Government and moved back to Greensboro. He became Executive Director of the Piedmont Disability Representatives in 2002 and served until September 2014 when he retired. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Haile; son Bryan and wife Elizabeth of Townsend, TN; daughter, Mary Heermans of Greensboro; 5 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his twin brother, Kenneth and wife Ricky of Greenville, SC; and nieces Kimberly Martin Allred and Stacey Martin. The family asks in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 607 N. Greene St., Greensboro, NC 27401 or a charity of one's choice. Lillian Menzel Greenville Lillian Menzel, 88, widow of Frank Menzel and formerly of Palm Bay, Florida, passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014 at Magnolia Manor of Greenville. Surviving are a daughter, Gail Cameron; grandchildren, Holly and Drew (Stephanie) Cameron, Jeff (Andrea) and Tiffany Menzel; great-granddaughter, Cora Menzel; and daughter-in-law, Linda Menzel. Mims, Frances Larkin Flynn - Anderson  
Frances Larkin Flynn Mims Anderson Frances Larkin Flynn Mims, widow of Paul Mims, Jr. died September 21, 2014. A native of Union, SC, she received a bachelor's degree from Converse, a master's degree from Wofford, and a doctorate from the University of South Carolina. She studied at the Sorbonne and at Oxford. She was a professor at Erskine and Anderson Universities. She was author of Jeannie, Buy Hyacinths and Quaint House. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Mims, Jr. of Anderson, SC, and both of her daughters, Larkin Mims and Linda Mims, both of Anderson. Her sister, Edith Butler of Union, SC and two brothers, Phil Flynn and Jack Flynn, both also of Union, SC, preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, Paul Mims, III, of Anderson, and a brother, Ned Flynn, of Kennesaw, Ga.
